Details

SiliaBond® Carbodiimide (Si-DCC) is a bound neutral carbodiimide that may be used for the synthesis of amides, esters, and activated esters. Loading is determined by titration of the excess oxalic acid after formation of oxalic anhydride. The use of silica-supported DCC eliminates purification issues caused by the formation of DCU as it remains bound to the silica.

 

Applications and uses of SiliaBond Carbodiimide are not restricted to standard amides. As a matter of fact, it has been successfully used for the synthesis of Weinreb amides and acylsulfonamides.

Details

SiliaBond® Ethyl-Dimethylaminopropyl Carbodiimide (Si-EDC) reacts in a similar fashion to SiliaBond Carbodiimide (Si-DCC). The advantage of Si-EDC is this new reagent greatly simplifies the work up procedure of the reactions since a simple filtration is all that takes to remove the unwanted side product of the amides formation (urea). SiliaBond Ethyl-Dimethylaminopropyl Carbodiimide can also be used for preparation of biologically relevant molecules by amidation reaction, preparation of formamides and esters synthesis from carboxylic acids and alcohols.
